According to the NFL and Reebok, Mark Sanchez’s #6 Jersey is their number one seller. Is this supposed to be an indication of player talent?
Sanchez, who was drafted sixth overall by the Jets, was originally not expected to declare for the NFL Draft. When he did, he surprised everyone, including his former USC head coach Pete Carroll.
Though Sanchez had little college experience, he had exceptional arm strength and accuracy throughout college. He was still expected to be a project for whichever NFL team drafted him.
Now, Sanchez is the projected starter for the Jets and his jersey is the #1 seller in the country. The question is, can he live up to his jersey’s profit?
Brett Favre is being talked about once again. The 38-year-old quarterback, who last year retired, unretired, and retired again is now being talked about around the league. Though it is not certain if Favre is making another one of his comebacks, it’s never out of the question with Brett Favre.
Bengals kicker Shayne Graham signed his $2.5 million one-year franchise tender late Thursday. Graham issued a press release when the Bengals designated him their franchise free agent instead of doing interviews back in February and didn’t participate in the first month of offseason conditioning. But now that he’s signed, the contract, which is the average of the top five paid kickers in the NFL, is guaranteed. Graham, fourth all-time in the NFL for field goal accuracy at 85.6 percent, has set several club records during his six seasons in Cincinnati. In addition to being the accuracy leader, he holds the most points in a season (131), field goals in a season (31), field goals in a game (seven) and consecutive field goals made (21).
The Indianapolis Colts have re-signed linebacker Freddie Keiaho. Keiaho’s agent, Frank Bauer, confirmed the signing to The Indianapolis Star, but he wouldn’t disclose terms of the deal.
The Philedelphia Eagles have signed wide receiver Hank Baskett to a one-year contract late Thursday.
