Sanchez’s Jersey is #1, Is He?

Posted by Noah Roush on May 5, 2009

According to the NFL and Reebok, Mark Sanchez’s #6 Jersey is their number one seller.  Is this supposed to be an indication of player talent?

Sanchez, who was drafted sixth overall by the Jets, was originally not expected to declare for the NFL Draft.  When he did, he surprised everyone, including his former USC head coach Pete Carroll.

Though Sanchez had little college experience, he had exceptional arm strength and accuracy throughout college.  He was still expected to be a project for whichever NFL team drafted him.

Now, Sanchez is the projected starter for the Jets and his jersey is the #1 seller in the country. The question is, can he live up to his jersey’s profit?

Is There a Comeback in Brett Favre’s Future?

Posted by Noah Roush on May 2, 2009

Brett Favre is being talked about once again.  The 38-year-old quarterback, who last year retired, unretired, and retired again is now being talked about around the league.   Though it is not certain if Favre is making another one of his comebacks, it’s never out of the question with Brett Favre.

The quarterback,  who worked his way into our hearts in his last year with Green Bay in 2007, managed to work his way out quickly upon his return in 2008.  In 2007 Favre broke multiple records, including the record for most touchdowns thrown (442), most seasons in a row with 3,000 yards (16), passing yards (61,655), and wins by a starting quarterback (160).

Once we had all realized that Brett Favre could be one of the greatest quarterbacks of all time he retired from his long time team, the Green Bay Packers.  Though it was sad to see him go, we were happy that he could finally settle down and live out his life.

But, Favre was restless and had to comeback.  The Packers, who had already moved on from the “Favre Era” wouldn’t take him back and were forced to rid themselves of him.  He was sent to the Jets, and the rest is history.

Could Favre be making another comeback?  After starting well with the Jets last year his season went down hill, ending with the Jets not making the Play-offs at all.  Brett Favre went from being a favorite player of many fans to being a player that most hate.

Bangles Sign Graham For $2.5M

Posted by Tyler Staley on April 30, 2009

Bengals kicker Shayne Graham signed his $2.5 million one-year franchise tender late Thursday.  Graham issued a press release when the Bengals designated him their franchise free agent instead of doing interviews back in February and didn’t participate in the first month of offseason conditioning. But now that he’s signed, the contract, which is the average of the top five paid kickers in the NFL, is guaranteed. Graham, fourth all-time in the NFL for field goal accuracy at 85.6 percent, has set several club records during his six seasons in Cincinnati. In addition to being the accuracy leader, he holds the most points in a season (131), field goals in a season (31), field goals in a game (seven) and consecutive field goals made (21).

To me, this seems like alot of money for a one-year contract and especially for a kicker, so is it a good idea?

Colts Re-Sign LB Keiaho

Posted by Tyler Staley on April 30, 2009

The Indianapolis Colts have re-signed linebacker Freddie Keiaho. Keiaho’s agent, Frank Bauer, confirmed the signing to The Indianapolis Star, but he wouldn’t disclose terms of the deal.

The linebacker position was the one  of the positions that the Colts didn’t address in last weekend’s draft. Along with Keiaho, the Colts have Gary Brackett, who starts in the middle; Clint Session who started most of last season on the outside.

Keiaho was a third-round draft pick out of San Diego State in 2006 and started 25 games over the last three seasons. He had a career-high 104 tackles in 2008.

Eagles Keep Baskett

Posted by Tyler Staley on April 30, 2009

The Philedelphia Eagles have signed wide receiver Hank Baskett to a one-year contract late Thursday.

Though the financial terms of the deal are unknown, im sure that are happy to have Baskett back on the team.

Baskett had career high 33 catches for 440 yards and three TDs last season, and played an important part in the Eagles running game by holding blocks down long enough for Brian Westbrook to get into the open field.
